Come join and/or support Ohio game developers as we create educational games for our local hospitals!

Multivarious Games of Columbus, OH and the CLE Game Co-Op are teaming up with the Cleveland & Columbus Extra Life guilds, in cooperation with Playcrafting & the Bay Area Extra Life guild, to host a 48-hour non-stop game jam supporting our local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

  • Nationwide Children’s Hospital (Columbus)
  • Cincinnati Children’s (Cincinnati)

Not Your Dad’s Old Fashion Game Jam

That’s right!  We’ll be simul-jamming alongside our partner game jam at Google Launchpad in San Francisco hosted by Playcrafting & the Bay Area Extra Life guild.  We’ll also be live streaming the whole thing to boot!

The simul-jamming doesn’t end with streaming, though.  Ohio jammers will be able to collaborate remotely with teams in San Francisco and vice versa!

Live Stream & Donation Competition

The whole game jam will be streamed live on Twitch featuring a non-stop lineup of local Ohio podcasters, game developers, Extra Life members, volunteers and supporters.  Viewers can donate to their favorite stream host, Extra Lifer, dev team or jam organizer (oh, btw, you’re looking positively LOVELY this evening) to push them to the coveted position atop the...

THE OH-IO S-T-R-E-A-M

You Can Host Our Stream!

Are you an Ohio video game podcaster, YouTuber or Twitch streamer?  Maybe a local game studio who just launched a Kickstarter? REALLY like talking about your Corgi’s puppies?

Guess what?! GAME DEV IS INCREDIBLY BORING TO WATCH! And we have 48 FREAKING HOURS to fill!!

That’s why we’re accepting pre-donations to reserve 1 hr spots.  If you got the ca$h 4 charity, WE DON’T CARE what you talk about! (Although, game relevant will be strongly considered over Corgi relevant.)

Interested? Apply here with your name and a vague description of what you intend on doing/performing/discussing on stream and we’ll be in touch! Hurry! The primetime spots will go fast!  https://goo.gl/forms/wWgDxoLYYpMXKTUE2

WARNING: All unfilled slots will be filled by yours truly ranting about how Nintendo pulled the NES mini before some of us had a chance to get one.

WHO, WHA, HOW?

Game Jam WHA?

A game jam is a hackathon for games.  In our case, it’s a 48 hour marathon game creation event where developers, artists, musicians and supports get together to create a game (something that usually takes months and months) in just 2 days (sometimes 3, other times 7).  It usually takes 2-parts hyper focus, 1 part infinitesimally narrow scope and 3 parts crazy-go-nuts.  Should be a HOOT to watch it streamed live!

Extra Life WHO?

CHARITY PARTNER

Extra Life is an online grassroots movement working to save local kids through the power of play via fundraising events, the proceeds of which go to branches of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
