In the 57th century, a “pirate” tri-D holovid studio produces underground gladiatorial combat entertainment for mass consumption: Murder Hobos.com. Far beyond the borders of the Third Imperium, many sophonts enter the arena, but only one exits alive. Surreptitiously distributed by the X-boat network, trillions secretly watch these to-the-death “murder hobo” fights – including, some say, members of the Imperial household. To help ensure the drama, the passion, and the gory spectacle, the contestants are rumored to be “juiced to the gills” on chemical cocktails of combat drugs, unknowingly and perhaps unwillingly - lab rats testing the latest unholy concoctions of unscrupulous Big Pharma megacorps. Usually the combatants are death warrant convicts grasping at long-odds chances to commute their sentences and avoid the Reaper; instead, they are often carried out peds-first. Others fight for money, for glory, for reasons too complicated, opaque or insane to comprehend. Some winners earn princely sums and then disappear somewhere in Charted Space, cloaked in non-disclosure agreements. All are volunteers – allegedly. You are one such “volunteer.” You can run, you can fight, but you can’t hide. And in the end, there can be only one! A MegaTraveller RPG adventure for up to six unlucky players.
