Ascent: A Kingdom Building Game

Board Game :: Stone Age

Rated PG :: During the decline of the Roman Empire, economic, political and religious instability was the mark of the land. Barbarian groups quickly moved in and ravaged the lands while various other civilizations emerged out of the chaos in an effort to establish their empire as the next dominant force. There was no clear successor to the Roman Empire. But when one great empire comes to an end, a new one must begin. In Ascent, you and your roundtable of knights (Meeples) work together to build your kingdom. If you want to grow diplomatically, you can have your knights gather resources in the mainland or build/upgrade various buildings (tiles) that generate more resources. If you prefer a militaristic approach, you can either hire mercenaries to fight for your cause or build fortifications to train elite soldiers. Once you have a large enough army, deploy them to an unsuspecting territory to civilize them and add them to your kingdom. But be careful, barbarians are out there looking to topple your kingdom. Will you build your kingdom to be a peaceful neighbor or will you be a terror to all in the land? Make your decision in Ascent!
