Adam Kubert

You’ve seen artist Adam Kubert’s work for decades, starting in 1978 as a regular letterer for DC Comics. His first credited artwork for the company is the story "Gremlins" published in Sgt. Rock #394 (Nov. 1984). He is probably best-known for his work at Marvel Comics, in particular for a long run on the solo Wolverine title with writer Larry Hama, a short run with writer Peter David on The Incredible Hulk and numerous stints on various X-Men titles. He drew X-Men in the late 90s and Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four in the early 2000s.

Both Adam and his brother Andy signed exclusive contracts to work for DC Comics in 2005, and Adam’s first work for the company was illustrating "Last Son", a Superman story arc co-written by Geoff Johns and Richard Donner. He returned to Marvel about 8 years ago, penciling Avengers vs. X-Men and Jonathan Hickman's run on The Avengers. In June 2017, Kubert began penciling Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man written by Chip Zdarsky. The revamped title has been described as a “back-to-basics” approach for the character.

Adam graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in medical illustration, and was winner of the 1992 Eisner Awards for Best Inker (Batman Versus Predator) and was rated by Wizard magazine as one of the "Hot 10 Writers and Artists" in the industry in 2008. He is the son of the late, great Joe Kubert and brother of Andy Kubert, both comic book artists as well, and the uncle of comics editor Katie Kubert. Born in Dover, New Jersey he is an instructor at the Joe Kubert School located there, which his father founded, and at which he and Andy studied.
