DMC

It’s time to run to Denver Comic Con – Darryl “DMC” McDaniels is coming to DCC ’18! This legendary musician and founding member of Run DMC is a pop culture icon who is now using comics to create, inspire, and motivate audiences. Make sure to check out McDaniels' first comic series, DMC, and his more recent work with Marvel on Guardians of Infinity. DMC grew up reading comics and developed a passion for them. In his first graphic novel, it's 1985 in New York City and graffiti covers subway cars as b-boys break and spin in playgrounds and on street corners. Drugs and crime rule the streets. The city's brand new guardian angels wear spandex and capes, wielding their gadgets and their superpowers to "clean up" the city for the benefit of a select few. The rest whisper a different name: DMC, who dons his tracksuit and Adidas sneakers to defend the city's marginalized citizens against super villain and super hero alike.

Darryl Makes Comics is an independent comic book imprint created by DMC, collaborator and Editor-in-Chief Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, and music executive Riggs Morales. Darryl Makes Comics is dedicated to the idea that every walk of life has heroes and stories worth telling. "Hip hop was always based on creativity," DMC says, "So what we're trying to do with this comic book is not trying to create anything that's new; we're just going to show the world what's already there… the beauty and the creativity of it."
