Rick Silver started his study of martial arts at the age of 5 and began fencing at the age of 11. In 2009 he started a group called Sterling Mercs and began training them in group tactics and siege combat. The focus of the Sterling Mercs is to depict historical combat as experience on the battlefields with an emphasis on a variety of weapons and teamwork. He has worked as background combatant in two films in 2007 and went into theater in college with a specialization in costuming and stage movement while acting as fight captain for several plays. He has also written and directed a one act play called ‘The World’s a Stage: A Divine Comedy’ in 2016, as well as having choreographed several stage productions and short films. Rick prides himself on being the ‘go to guy’ for non-sword training tools as he makes shields, polearms and other weapons that are not readily available
