Richard Marsden

Richard Marsden is the founder, along with John Patterson, of the Phoenix Society of Historical Swordsmanship. He has HEMA Alliance Instructor Certification and has taught at numerous events in the USA and in Canada. Richard was President of the HEMA Alliance and is currently a member of its General Council. Richard and his students have competed and placed at tournaments internationally. At last year’s Combat Con Richard placed in longsword, while his students placed in longsword, sword and buckler and rapier. Richard is the author of several HEMA pdfs, video-guides, and a book on the Polish Saber. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a focus in History and a Masters Degree in Military Studies: Land Warfare. In terms of fiction and entertainment, Richard has been published over fifty times in various magazines, has two novels out, and along with John Patterson is author of a Savage Worlds licensed product.
