Dominic Purcell

Appearing Sat,Sun

Dominic Purcell stars in the upcoming Netflix feature Blood Red Sky, an action/horror film about a hijacked transatlantic flight in which the passengers must face supernatural threats. The film is Netflix’s first German production out of their new division, International Original Film (IOF), in collaboration with Constantin Film.

Purcell also currently stars in The CW series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow as Mick Rory a.k.a. Heat Wave, a.k.a. romance novelist Rebecca Silver. As one of the last O.G.s of the Legends, Rory has come a long way since his days as a Central City super-criminal—he now only steals what’s needed to keep the Waverider running… and maybe a little bit extra to stow away for himself and his daughter Lita, the product of a passionate time travel affair in season 5.

Purcell grew up in Australia and attended the prestigious Australian Theater for Young People. After beginning his training there, he extended his classical training to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) alongside fellow alumni Hugh Jackman and Frances O’Connor.

After graduating, Purcell landed many leading roles in popular Australian television series as well as features including Moby Dick, starring opposite Patrick Stewart and Gregory Peck, Miramax’s Equilibrium with Christian Bale; and The Visitors, opposite Radha Mitchell. However, it was the title role for the television series John Doe for director Mimi Leder, in which he played an amnesiac that knows every fact in the world except who he is, that brought him to the attention of millions. The series quickly became a fan favorite and earned rave reviews.

Purcell later segued into the lead role of Lincoln Burrows in the massively successful and critically acclaimed series Prison Break opposite Wentworth Miller. The series became an international phenomenon and earned many awards and nominations including a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series and a Best Actor award from the Australian Film Institute.

Purcell followed his television success with starring roles in the films Marvel’s Blade III: Trinity opposite Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds, and Joel Schumacher’s Blood Creek opposite Michael Fassbender and Henry Cavill. He also starred in Rod Lurie’s remake of Straw Dogs; The Killer Elite, beside Jason Statham and Robert De Niro; A Fighting Man opposite Famke Janssen and James Caan; and The Bag Man, whereby he reunited with De Niro alongside John Cusack.

Purcell starred in the action-thriller Gridlocked, with Stephen Lang, which won the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and was handpicked by Jackie Chan to be one of the action movies featured at the Shanghai International Film Festival. He also went on to reprise his character in the highly anticipated return of Prison Break: Resurrection, which aired in 2017.
