CRYSTAL SKILLMAN is the playwright of GEEK, CUT, RAIN AND ZOE SAVE THE WORLD (2018 EMOS New Play Competition Winner), Pulp Vérité (workshopped at Playwrights Foundation), and OPEN which premieres in All for One and The Tank's season in June 2019. Crystal is the book writer of MARY AND MAX (Based on the animated film by Adam Elliot) and POSTCARD AMERICAN TOWN. Selected Awards/Residencies: 2018 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat; 2018 Pace New Musicals; 2018 MUT Award (Critics’ Prize), Clifford Odets Ensemble Play Commission, NY Innovative Theatre Award. Her work in comic books and TV includes “ADVENTURE TIME” (BOOM! Studios), “SECRET LOVES OF GEEK GIRLS IN LOVE” (Dark Horse Comics), and the comic book Eat Fighter, written with her husband writer Fred Van Lente. Together they also penned the NY Times Critics’ Pick play KING KIRBY about the life of comic book artist Jack Kirby praised as “a pop-culture Death of a Salesman.” Their pilot PAPER HEROES (Mad Men meets Marvel) was named one of the top three pilots in the 2017 Big Break contest and one of the top fifty in the Launchpad Pilots competition.
