Richard Comely and Ron Leishman created Captain Canuck back in May of 1975. Operating as Comely Comix published the first issue of his Captain Canuck comic book series. Captain Canuck was an instant hit to millions of Canadians he became “Canada’s own Superhero”.
Years later Richard Comely received The Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Award to celebrate Captain Canuck’s 35th anniversary.
Comely continues to write and illustrate. Most recently he has worked with Chapterhouse Publishing who have licensed the rights to Captain Canuck. Captain Canuck is being developed for animation and live action television.
Richard and Evelyn Comely’s company Star Rider Productions Inc. operates the Tri-City Super Con – an annual event in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario
