Dr. Katy Jarvis (Ph.D.) is a mathematician and computer engineer at NASA, Ames. She received her doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Davis. Her Ph.D. research focused on mathematical biology, where she used mathematical modeling to study muscle contraction across physiological size scales. At Ames, Dr. Jarvis is a research scientist in the Intelligent Systems Division. She is a member of the Diagnostics and Prognostics Group, and works on the System-Wide-Safety and Data and Reasoning Fabric projects, where she develops computationally efficient prediction algorithms for use in a range of applications from aerospace to human physiology. When she’s not working, Katy loves doing outreach and inspiring young students to continue STEM education.
