Melissa Mary Duncan

Melissa Mary Duncan enjoys working in tradition materials: watercolour, gouache and pencil. Her illustrations of folklore and fantasy can be found on magazine and book covers, posters, CD’s, and licensed products. Melissa was also artist Guest of Honour for Canvention 34 and she was a guest last year at Fan Expo in Vancouver. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Canada and has exhibited internationally in the States and Holland. Melissa has twice been nominated for the Aurora Award. Her inspiration is drawn from nature, folk, faerie, traditional fantasy and her love of history.



Melissa lives with her husband dvsduncan, a landscape architect and speculative fiction writer. They are both kept in line, with their noses to the grindstone, by their cat, The Major. This past June in partnership with her husband dvs, Tracey Earnst and with the commitment of Janice Murphy she opened the Wylde Wood Collective, in River Market, in New Westminster. The Wylde Wood showcases original works of art, craft, costume and literature all themed to the worlds of Fantasy, the Mythic Arts, Folk/fairy tales and Science Fiction. The Wylde Wood features the creations of more than 20 local and Canadian makers and, on its bookshelves, the works of Canadian Authors, publishers, illustrators and so much more.
