Fern Brady began her career as a foreign correspondent. After 15 years teaching in Alief ISD, Fern chose to switch gears and open her own publishing company. In September 2014, she became the CEO of the Houston Writers Guild. Her children's book, The Smiley Face Blatoon, was released July 2015 under her pen name, Lady Nefari Ydarb.
