If you fondly remember newspaper comic strips, then you won't want to miss local cartoonist and historian R. C. Harvey at DCC ’18! Harvey has been drawing cartoons for over fifty years, perfecting his craft over an eclectic journey through service in the U.S. Navy, time as an English teacher, and a career as a freelance cartoonist. In addition to publishing his cartoons, Harvey has written several books about the history of comics and cartoon. Make sure to check out his books The Art of Funnies and The Art of the Comic Book, and his edited work Cartoons of the Roaring Twenties and American National Biography. Harvey also contributed over 150 biographies to A Gallery of Rogues: Cartoonists’ Self-Caricatures.
