David Powell

A self-proclaimed fantasy nerd, Powell Arts creative director David Powell has been making heroic costumes and props inspired by movies and books from a very young age. Since slaying dragons in the back yard with hand carved wooden swords and capes made from bathroom towels, Powell has gone on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and has created armor, costumes and props that have been featured in theater, commercials, and film. While his main artistic passion is in leatherwork, he is also skilled in painting, including digital painting, drawing, design, sculpture, casting and mold making, and in small metals and jewelry. Powell currently works at Badali Jewelry Specialties, designing and manufacturing licensed jewelry from fantasy book series such as Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”, Robert Jordan’s “The Wheel of Time”, and various others. Encouraged by his supportive wife, stalwart friends, and loving family, his dream is to continue making story, fantasy, and mythology come to life through artistic craftsmanship.
