Clinton Hobart

Clinton T. Hobart was born in Philadelphia, grew up in New Jersey and studied Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. As a student, he concentrated on figure drawing, spending much of his free time attending life-drawing sessions at Spring Studio in SoHo. He has also studied under Disney animator Milt Neil, theater illustrator James McMullan and portrait artist Everett Raymond Kinstler. He spent six summers as workshop assistant to Daniel E. Greene.

After graduating from SVA, Clinton moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, and began teaching classes at Scottsdale Artists’ School and private figure drawing classes at Rainbow Animation Studios. He continues to teaching painting and drawing workshops around the world.

Clinton has always been passionate about theater, film, and acting. He often imagines that the objects in his still-life paintings are actors in a play: “The story behind many of my paintings is that the objects are finished with their performance and are taking a bow, which is why they are lined up on stage”.

Clinton’s work is currently on display in many private collections, both national and international. His collectors include CEO’s, actors and actresses, other artists, prominent businessmen and women, university professors and government officials.

Clinton was featured in the February 2009 issue of American Artist magazine. He appeared on CBS News with Scott Pelle in November 2013 after a Chinese company sold forged copies of his paintings online. The Huffington Post has more recently mentioned the story stating that Clinton was part of a “sting operation”.

In 2014, Clinton painted a series of Disney themed still-life paintings which were released as limited editions through Disney Fine Art.
