Renee Cooper

Renee's introduction to the convention scene was Dragon Con 2008. She brushed off her 1990s Brother sewing machine and started to construct cosplays from her favorite video games anime and cartoons. Her love of playing dress-up and performance led her to many dazzling opportunities over the next decade: > burlesque go-go and hula-hoop dancing; > cosplay modeling and costumed volunteering; > a singing pin-up trio; > the Aficionados YouTube channel; > and Peach Maid Cafe. Through her consistent exploration and broadcast coverage of the vibrant fan community from Atlanta to DC to LA Renee was invited to take on the role of Director of Media Relations at MomoCon in 2016. In 2017 Renee's life-long love of cartoons paid off when she accepted an assistant directorship position with Dragon Con's Animation Track. Her responsibilities involve scheduling hosting and moderating discussions guest interviews and professional industry panels. In 2018 Renee attended 16 conventions locally and across the country reviewing how each celebrated fandoms through their guests art entertainment and community focuses. She hopes to encourage fans to engage with more real-life experiences like conventions--not just through attendance and cosplay but by supporting local creators vendors and performers. Renee's mild-mannered day job is in the social media marketing industry and it's hard to get her to shut up about social trends e-commerce and email marketing!
