Jerry 'The King' Lawler

WWE Hall of Famer, artist of Headlocked

For more than 30 years, Jerry “The King” Lawler has been abusing opponents both with his fists, or with a microphone. Heck, sometimes both.

With more than 140 championships to his credit, Lawler is no doubt one of the most accomplished and decorated superstars in wrestling history, earning him a place in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. And while he holds victories over almost every major wrestler of the last 30 years, he is best known for his feud with comedian Andy Kaufman, including a very memorable confrontation on Late Night with David Letterman where Lawler slapped Kaufman right out of his chair.

These days, “The King” only laces up the boots occasionally, letting his words do all the damage. Fans know him today as the Diva-obsessed color commentator on the WWE’s flagship television show, WWE SmackDown.

And while wrestling has brought Lawler his notoriety, he also is an acclaimed artist in every sense of the word. In 1998, he played himself in the Kaufman biopic Man on the Moon. His autobiography, It’s Good to be King … Sometimes, remains one of the bestselling WWE autobiographies of all time. He also has painted comic book covers for Zorro, Green Hornet, and the critically acclaimed wrestling-themed comic book, Headlocked.
