Nei Ruffino

Comics Colorist and Illustrator with a long list of credits. She is the Creator of the fantasy comic sensation The Secret Life of Crows.

Nei Ruffino (aka Toolkitten) left tattooing to become a comic book artist, and working for many companies, either as colorist or cover artist. Nei has worked on projects such as Star Wars, Spiderman, Green Lantern, Batman, Superman, Red Sonja from Dynamite and Unleashed from Zenescope entertainment, as well as colors over J. Scott Campbell.

Comicmonsters.com: How did you get your start in comics?

Nei Ruffino: I got my first job at Devil’s Due working on Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms. Things really took off after that.

Comicmonsters.com: How long does it take to (color) a page?

Nei Ruffino: It takes about and hour or two a page.

Comicmonsters.com: A lot of the books you work on have a big horror aspect, have you always been a fan of horror?

Nei Ruffino: I grew up around three older brothers who loved heavy metal and gore. I like painting blood a lot more than a girl probably should. (laughs)
