Artist Doug Mahnke has a long list of contributions to the world of comics, beginning with such titles as The Mask, The Mask Returns, The Mask Strikes Back and “X” with Dark Horse Comics, followed by a quarter century of prolific work with DC Comics, penciling monthly titles such as Superman: Man of Steel, Batman (Under the Red hood story line, adapted to animation in film by the same name), Justice League of America, Justice League Elite, Storm Watch: PHD, Green Lantern with writer Geoff Johns, Justice League, Superman/Wonder Woman, Superman with writer Peter Tomasi.

Doug also has contributed to unique titles such as Grant Morrison’s Seven Soldiers of Victory: Frankenstein, Final Crisis and Multiversity: Ultra Comics, and the creator-owned Major Bummer with writer John Arcudi, Batman: The Man Who Laughs with writer Ed Brubaker, and Action Comics 775 “What’s so funny about Truth, Justice and the American Way?” with writer Joe Kelly, that was made into the animated film Superman vs the Elite. The list goes on!

Doug is currently the artist on Detective Comics, with writer Peter Tomasi, starting with issue #994 and building up to the historic Detective Comics #1000 and beyond!

Doug resides with his family in Minnesota amongst lakes, wildlife, and snow.

This will be Doug’s first convention appearance of 2019. He is always focusing on his work and making sure he is creating the best book possible for the fans. Given that this is Planet Comicon Kansas City’s 20th anniversary, he is thrilled to make his first appearance in Kansas City for this very special occasion.

Doug’s appearance is in conjunction with JJ’s Comics and Art.
