Ariana de Souza is a senior at Pioneer High School. Although her childhood has been filled with books and storytelling, she wasn’t exposed to comic books until her sophomore year of high school. Her classmates were asked to pick a novel for their summer homework, and she chose Art Spiegelman’s Maus. She read it, and fell in love with the way Maus told a story that would have been entirely different if it were a novel. She is now a student leader of the Pioneer Comic Book Club and has been devouring graphic novels ever since.
