Riya Behl

Riya Behl is a senior at Pioneer High School. She was first introduced to the wonderful world of comics by her sophomore year English teacher. The first graphic novel she read was Maus, by Art Spiegelman. After that, she was hooked. She began to go to her school’s Comic Book Club meetings, and absolutely fell in love with comic books. Not only are they a pleasure to read and experience, but they are a very nuanced medium that allows for the discussion of current issues, and the investigation of human behavior itself. Now, as the proud co-president of the Comic Book Club, she finds herself reading comic books week after week and comparing them to her experiences as well as the knowledge that she’s gained from school, allowing her to gain a fuller understanding of, and a greater exposure to, the world around her.
