Lindsey Beer is the showrunner and creator of Netflix’s upcoming series The Magic Order, directed by James Wan and based on the comics by Mark Millar. She wrote and executive produced the hit Netflix Original, Sierra Burgess is a Loser, for which she also co-penned its chart-topping theme song, Sunflower. Other upcoming releases include Chaos Walking (2020), the dystopian sci-fi western directed by based on the novel by Patrick Ness; Kingkiller Chronicle, Lionsgate’s fantasy epic with music by Lin Manuel Miranda; and the Masters of the Universe reboot for Sony. Beer has also had her hand in cracking many past and future franchises, from Transformers, to Godzilla vs. Kong, to Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek.
Last December, she launched the production company Known Universe with fellow scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), aimed at telling genre stories with fresh and diverse perspectives.
Beer is currently writing the Hello Kitty movie for New Line, and writing and executive producing a Fast and Furious spin-off for Universal. She attended Stanford University, where she studied Neuroscience and the intersection of Science, Technology and Society.
