James Kahn

James Kahn is a practicing Emergency Room physician who’s been writing professionally for 40 years. He began his career as a short story writer and novelist, having his science fiction trilogy (World Enough and Time, Times’s Dark Laughter, and Timefall) published by Del Rey Books. He was asked to be a medical technical advisor on Steven Spielberg’s ET: The Extraterrestrial, at which time Spielberg read one of his novels and asked him to novelize the movie Poltergeist. Kahn went on to pen a spate of novelizations, including Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Goonies, and Return of the Jedi.

From there he segued into a long career in television, doing multiple episodes of the pre-X Files supernatural investigative series Beyond Reality, the William Shatner series TekWar, Xena:Warrior Princess, Melrose Place, and finally becoming Supervising Producer on Star Trek: Voyager.

In 2014 his original sci-fi trilogy was re-released through Premiere/Fastpencil Press, and he came out with a new novel, the reincarnation thriller, Incarnate.

He’s sold several pilots, was nominated for a writing Emmy for work on All My Children, and released two Americana music CDs, Waterline, and Man Walks Into A Bar. Most recently he produced the award-winning indie movie The Bet, and is currently in development on his next feature film, Wrongside Bob, inspired by one of the songs on Man Walks Into A Bar.
