Dana Lynn Louis

Dana Lynn Louis is a visual artist who creates visual worlds and experiences that engage one in seeing the beauty, levity, and wonder that exists in the natural world and in our own bodies and minds. The works range from drawings and sculptures to interdisciplinary collaborations, and public works that become integrated into their environments.
Louis’s permanent public projects have largely been focused on creating environments that support both conceptual and physical healing. Louis recently collaborated with psychiatric patients at the Oregon State Hospital and introduced yoga to a remote village in Africa. During this incredibly challenging time on our planet, politically and environmentally, Louis feels that through extending our hearts and minds “on the ground” locally and globally we can heal the destructive social and environmental forces at hand.

Louis’ work has been exhibited and collected internationally.
Articles about her work have appeared in Sculpture Magazine, Artweek, and the German Periodical Glaushaus as well as numerous books and catalogues. Louis has received awards from The Pollack Krasner Foundation, The Regional Arts and Culture council, Ford Family Foundation, The Oregon Arts Commission, and The Clackamas Arts Alliance.
Her Artist in residency Awards include: Thread: Senegal West Africa, The Museum of Glass in Washington, Bullseye Glass, Ohio State University, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and Sitka Center for art and Ecology.
Louis has a BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in Art and Education, and an MFA from the Ohio State University. She is a founding Board member of The Ko-Falen Cultural Center, which is headquartered in Bamako, Mali.

Louis is represented by Friesen Gallery in Sun Valley Idaho and Russo Lee Gallery in Portland Oregon. In conjunction with the Wellness Festival Louis will be exhibiting work at The Sun Valley Center for the Arts, The Friesen Gallery and The Wellness Festival.
