Barbara Goodson

Barbara Goodson was born in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of three sisters and is an American actress known mostly for her versatility in voicing original and dubbed cartoons. She is voted one of the ten best women to do the voices for young males in cartoons. She was the voice of Red Fraggle and Wingnut in Jim Henson's cartoon Fraggle Rock as well as the voice of Empress Rita Repulsa in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo,Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, Power Rangers in Space, and most recently Mother Talzin on Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In addition to Rita Repulsa, she has also voiced both Prince Sprocket and Orbus in Power Rangers Zeo (giving her at least 3 credits listed in the show's end credits). She also was the female voice of Mandilok in Power Rangers Wild Force and Ladyborg inBeetleborgs Metallix.

As for her anime dubbing, she has an extensive list of credits. Shows such as HBO's Adventures of Tom Sawyer as Tom, Tekkaman Blade as Star, Dragon Ball, Robotech, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Naruto as Granny Chiyo and Lady Shima and FLCL as Naota. She was also the first woman to dub Kiki's mom in Kiki's Delivery Service. The series CloudBread in which she is a cast member as Wooley, Ruiz, Grandma and Teacher Ellie was nominated for Best Children's Programming in 2011 for an Annie Award. She was also awarded an Earphones Award for narrating Blair Clemons in the Time/Warner book On A Night Like This.

She became aware of her mimicry skills early while imitating friends and family and quickly got wise to the positive attention she received. The camaraderie and connection that her antics sparked in others filled her heart with joy.

Barbara delights in the task of putting her own stamp on a character, whether it be dramatic, musical, comedic; in film, cartoons, V/O, nightclubs, theater, TV, the supermarket, you name it. Being stuck in a tiny woman’s body has always been a challenge for her since she experiences herself as being much bigger than her under 5 foot stature. Among other talents, Barbara has been recognized for her powerful vocal range, playing many nasty, humorous and/or sinister “bad ladies” on screen and off.
