Steve Erwin

Steve Erwin was born in Tulsa and is a graduate of Daniel Webster High School and graduated the Commercial Art course from Tulsa County Vo Tech.

His professional career in the comics field as an artist began in 1985, working primarily with DC Comics. He co-created two series for DC, Checkmate! And Gunfire, but is most recognized as the artist of the original Deathstroke: The Terminator series in the 1990s. Steve penciled the art for the comics adaptation of the movie Batman Returns and a run of fill-ins on a variety of titles, including New Gods, Hawk & Dove, and Superman – The Man Of Steel.

Steve penciled the mini-series Star Trek: The Next Generation – Shadowheart, followed by the comic book adaptation of William Shatner’s first Star Trek novel, Star Trek: The Ashes of Eden.

Combining his love of comics and interest in history, Steve penciled a number of graphic novel adaptations of historical events for Graphic Library, a juvenile hardcover book series for schools and libraries. Stories include The Hindenburg Disaster, The Wright Brothers and the Airplane, and The Battle of Gettysburg.

In 2007, Steve was honored to be inducted into the Oklahoma Cartoonists Hall of Fame in The Toy & Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Most recently, Steve penciled the art for the graphic novel adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein’s classic science fiction book, Citizen of the Galaxy. Notably, this is the first ever adaptation of a Heinlein book into graphic novel form.
