We don’t all need to be Oxford professors like J.R.R. Tolkien, but drawing from real world information can lend verisimilitude to fantasy and enrich our world building, plots, and characters. There’s a whole globe and thousands of years of history to look at -- where should you even start? How should you use that research in your story?
