Besides being a place for web comic creators to share their wares and engage with their communities, Reddit has evolved into being a second screen for fans across movies, games and TV. Whether it’s opining the next season of Rick and Morty hasn’t yet shipped, an in-depth theatrical analysis of the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, or the latest Reddit-carrot on Mr. Robot, Reddit communities are in the middle of the action. Even when the action has been paused, Reddit provides an outlet for active fandom even for canceled and off season because we all know at some point Fox will see the error in their ways and bring back Firefly. In this talk we’ll discuss the evolution of Reddit into its current role pot combination second screen and rapt but knowledgeable friend, as well as the trials and triumphs of interacting with your fandom on this unique platform.
