An exhibition on the lives, hardships, & triumphs of Anime Fans of Cuba. Cuba has been under a trade embargo by the US since the 1960’s. Despite this embargo, Japanese popular culture has found a foothold in the Caribbean nation. Nowhere is this more noticeable than with the Anime fans of the Island. Fans of Anime in Cuba have developed their own subculture, much like any country with access to Anime. And, despite their lack of available resources, have thrived to become active cosplayers, Anime vendors, artists, & even hosts of their own anime conventions! This project is dedicated to the otaku of Cuba, the passion for Anime they share with the rest of the world, and the tenacity with which they overcome impossible odds.
