John Rhys-Davies began his acting career on stage, starring in hundreds of plays throughout the UK. It was his love of theatre that made him once vow that he'd never perform in front of a camera. Despite this declaration, he eventually relented and has since become one of the most recognizable and beloved character actors in both television and film.
Some of his most iconic characters are Sallah, Indiana Jones' comic sidekick, and Gimli the honorable, wise, and stalwart warrior dwarf in the Lord of the Rings movie franchise in which he also voiced the Ent, Treebeard. In addition, Rhys-Davies has lent his distinctive voice to many video games and animated television series, including the role of Hades in Justice League and Macbeth in Gargoyles. You will also recognize his voice talents as the Brine King in Aquaman.
