This is a relatively advanced class on how to approach working with a limited number of colors and monochrome painting. I’d like anyone taking this class to have a good grounding in color theory or to have taken a color theory class in the past. I’ve designed it to follow my basic color theory class, so if you need a refresher, you’ll be able to move from one straight to the other. In this class we’ll use value contrast to take the place of color contrast, and talk about other ways to achieve contrast. We’ll also be mixing the few colors we use. It would be helpful to know basic blending techniques such as wet blending, layering, or 2 brush blending. Bring a nice brush with a good tip. A handout with examples and everything else we need with be provided.
