Much has been said about Harry—but what of the teachers and faculty? One of the features that has made the Harry Potter series stand out, has been the diversity, complexity, and relatability of the adults that make Hogwarts happen. From wise and powerful Dumbledore and former Death Eater Snape, to strict but caring McGonagall and werewolf Lupin, to squibs, frauds, and sacrificing centaurs—the school seems to have it all. Join us as we discuss these heroic (and antagonistic) characters and evaluate their roles in the books and in their school (and maybe relate them to some school experiences of our own). Do the teachers and faculty cultivate growth and learning? What matters more, credentials or experience? How do these books reveal the best and worst of the teacher and student experience? And which teachers do we most honor and respect? We’ll cover these questions and more.
