We'll start by covering the novelty acts of the 40's, 50's and 60's with artists like Spike Jones (Hawaiian War Chant), Tom Lehrer (Poisoning Pigeons in the Park) and Bobby Puckett (Monster Mash). Even Leonard Nimoy (The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins, Highly Illogical) produced several albums while filming Star Trek. These songs were kept on the airwaves by the Dr. Demento radio program in the 70's. The 70's also saw such diverse artists as Blue Oyster Cult (Godzilla), Monty Python (Lumberjack Song ), and Steve Martin (King Tut) add to the collection. The godfather of parodies - Weird Al (Eat It, White and Nerdy) got his start on Dr. Demento and continues to release new material today (Tacky). We'll wrap up covering more recent artists like Jonathan Coulton (Re: Your Brains, Code Monkey) and music like Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.
