The Kenkonkai are the Washington area branch of the International Batto-do Federation which preserves and studies the art of Nakamura Ryu. Nakamura ryu is based upon the swordsmanship taught at the Toyama Military University in Japan as an introduction to sword handling for Japanese junior officers.
