This panel will offer tips and strategies for using anime in a K-12 classroom. We’ll go over the challenges teachers might face and how to overcome them, example anime lesson plans, and finally give you the chance to create your own! What happens in the panel: I. Introduction to anime in teaching a. Reasons on why this is not a crazy idea b. Reasons why it is actually a good idea c. What other teachers using anime have done II. Anime from 2022-2023 to use in teaching a. The latest anime titles from this time period and the subjects they can be used for in teaching (e.g. literature, philosophy, sociology, history, etc.) III. Workshop on creating an anime lesson plan a. Go over a lesson plan template b. Hand out lesson plan templates and writing utensils to the audience and have them create their own anime lesson plans c.
