In the history of recorded music there have been few musical niches as chaotic, indefinable, and outright bizarre as hyperpop, a genre led by the terminally online, the vocally queer, and the extremely nerdy. In my panel, I'll be reviewing the genre's evolution and the factors that shaped it, which include everything from French philosophy to anime, and I'll be exploring what the genre's unique history and sound tells us about the internet, politics, and the nature of art itself.
