Animation cels are an important part of the history of anime. This panel will explore the history of their use in Japanese Animation, their evolution and extinction as an animation tool, and their status as a collectors item. How were cels used to create special effects? How and by whom were they created and painted? How does one collect them, and how can they be properly preserved? These questions, and loads of others, will be answered in this panel, which will include some real cels as visual aids!
