Despite only existing for a handful of years, the boldness and bravado of the Shinsengumi — the Tokugawa Shogunate’s elite police force — has earned them a special place in pop culture from anime and video games to live action TV. But just who were the Shinsengumi? This panel will explore the history and lives of the Shogun’s top enforcers and how they’ve been depicted since their demise.
