In his seminal study of sequential art (comics), Understanding Comics Scott McCloud emphasizes the importance of what happens both within the panels and between them. That which we see in a comic is just as important as what is implied to have transpired when the image changes. This workshop/panel will explore how educators can effectively interpret and analyze the comic form and offer strategies on how to impart this to their students as a potential scaffolding device that can enhance student understanding of more traditional chapter based texts.
