Necessary Triggers: Comics to Trigger Learning

There is an increasing number of educators and students interested in including sequential art in the classroom. For younger students, it may promote literacy; for older ones, it may cultivate critical thinking by complicating ways of seeing previously unknown or poorly known topics. So, to be triggered by a comic book may run counter to those with notions of the genre being sophisticated but benign. Where does accountability lie when teaching necessary triggers?
