Star Trek has permeated our culture and helped to create our vision of space travel and of the future for over 50 years. Star Trek depicts a wide range of science, much of it well grounded in theoretical reality. I will present an overview of the physics that underlies space travel, time travel, transporter beams, and warp drive – all motivated by Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the world of Star Trek.
