The Doctor's antagonism to human political authority is well known. But, how do we reconcile the rejection of authority with the simultaneous embrace and admiration of companions? The Doctor's interactions with humanity are dependent upon human recognition of his authority, or even supremacy over humanity. Is the Doctor a cult-like figure? This panel will explore this paradox in a timely cultural analysis of political and religious authority in our modern contemporary context.
