A Teaching Toolkit: Adding Game-based Learning to your Course without Starting from Scratch

Room 303 - Education

Saturday June 16, 2018 - 1:30 pm to 2:20 pm

Abstract: Game-Based Learning promises to add engagement, encourage creativity and problem-solving, and to improve communication and comprehension. While many educators would like to make these types of improvements in their courses, most despair at the thought of a huge learning curve to master the discipline of game making to their already mountainous workload. This session will give you a few basic tools and simple techniques to add game elements to your content without the headache of re-inventing the wheel. From using existing games, to adding real-world simulation activities to a broader course narrative structure, these ideas can co-exist and enhance your normal course content with minimal effort.
