Pack Your Bags: We’re Moving to Mars! (Eventually)

Room 211ABCD

Saturday April 7, 2018 - 11:00 am to 12:00 pm

Science fiction is full of bustling Mars and Moon colonies, but how did they get made? Space travel is limited by how much spaceships can carry: do we bring nails and supplies from Earth, or figure out a way to use extraterrestrial materials? Who does the building? And, where would they live during construction? Can we use robots? Can we 3D print entire cities? Could we 3D print satellites while they’re in orbit? How do we decide where or when to build? What research needs to be done? And, how far away is it? When can we plan our Moon vacations? Will our grandchildren be Martians? Hear from explorers and innovators at the forefront of constructing these new worlds! Moderated by Jason Lederman, Popular Science Jason Ballard, co-founder, ICON; co-founder and president, TreeHouse Jason Dunn, Founder and Director, Made In Space, Inc.
