ZIM HIGH - The First African Teen Movie EVER & Anime in Sub Saharan Africa

(LP 4) Burbank Ballroom

Saturday August 18, 2018 - 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Panel will be a discussion on the role of anime in Africa, and the film “ZIM HIGH”, and will feature the films’ stars Rick Cosnett (The Flash, Quantico, Vampire Diaries) and Tatenda Mbudzi. There will also be sneak previews of the film “ZIM HIGH”. “ZIM HIGH” is about Tatenda, an outcast who wants to study anime; but in order to do so must rise above his fellow students in order to be elected as a PREFECT to win a university scholarship to Japan. This will not be easy, as Tatenda goes to ZIM HIGH, the most prestigious, and cruel high school on the African Continent, and arguably the world. Tatenda’s journey is documented by Simon, an Aboriginal Australian exchange student researching what high school is like in Africa. Simon eventually takes Tatenda under his wing, and helps him craft a diabolical prefect campaign.
