Believe it or not, video game design relies heavily on improv comedy. You always need to figure out how people will interact with your game before it's put out there. While doing improv, you take whatever is given to you and build something from that is a greater than the sum of its parts within the boundary of the game. Think of the last time you played an open world game that is all about exploration, you're given a playground and what you do in that playground either breaks or makes the game (often both to hilarious effect). Using improv, we'll learn how to play both sides of that and how to really explore your playground. What we will do with this talk is learn how to apply the concepts of "Yes, and" to video games to create a truly unique, fun experience and play some improv games to help teach you how to build fun within boundaries.
