Coldsteam - Coldsteam is a Visual Effects short film produced by Nicholas Chia, Yeo Shiyun, Goh Peng Fong, and Yang Sishuo. Based in a post-apocalyptic world, Coldsteam is a story of a girl’s struggle for water in a world infested with mysterious creatures. The project aims to primarily examine and undergo the visual effects pipeline, as well as the technical exploration of various 3D production and compositing software, such as Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, Realflow, and Nuke. In collaboration with the school’s film students, Coldsteam was shot entirely in front of a green screen with an ARRI Alexa Camera. As the pioneer batch of Visual Effects students in Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design & Media (ADM), Coldsteam is one of its first ever VFX final year projects, and also one of the few examples of a multi-disciplinary collaboration across different majors.
