This session will explore ways to integrate pop culture into a variety of subject areas to foster motivation and engagement in your students. What would happen if Captain Mal Reynolds had the opportunity to chat with world leaders? What about a roundtable meeting among Gandhi, Genghis Kahn, Captain Picard, and Worf? How would your students react if given the opportunity to explore scale while using the Starship Enterprise and Spaceball 1? What sort of discussion would arise if students discussed cultural norms in terms of Star Trek's exploration of the universe? This session is a wonderful opportunity to brainstorm ideas with new friends and colleagues.
