This proposed panel presentation is based on a series of articles I recently had published as a preliminary to an upcoming book, entitled Problems of the Female Badass in Contemporary Narrative. In it, I pinpoint and detail seven problematic tropes/stereotypes of “strong” female characters, using literary criticism, writing instruction, social commentary, philosophical analysis, and of course many examples from cinema and literature to illustrate and deconstruct each trope.
